I won...so why do I sense a disturbance in my heart? I wonder if it's something as basic as finally understanding to the core that the extent to which I am free has nothing to do with politics, nothing to do with the chains so many freely choose. The extent to which I am free is up to me.

Absolutely. I've been a (sometimes vocal) non-voter since the second Reagan election, and I've heard all the arguments: "If you don't participate you've no right to complain," etc. I stopped when I realized that I could never, ever vote myself free, or even freer. I could only participate in the game, give sanction to my would-be rulers.

I'm still sometimes kinda bothered by those preference polls you see where anyone who doesn't choose BOYN Party Candidate A or BOYN Party Candidate B is automatically listed as "undecided." Hey, I'm not undecided. I don't want any of these tapeworms. But they never ask me anyway, so what the hell?

I didn't want to be ruled, and the only realm where freedom was left to me was inside myself. So that's where I chose to seek it. To hell with politics and politicians.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15536029.post-73639680012869792472008-07-07T12:07:00.000-04:002008-07-07T12:07:00.000-04:00Bravo!!
