Happy March anyway

lewlew chided me in the comments to "Too Much February," and she's right: The month of February can be downright pleasant between Valentine's Day and if the weather is "crisp and not too rainy in my neck of the woods." Problem is, my neck of the woods can get a bit more harsh this time of year, and right about now we start getting anxious for the sun to come back on and the air to warm back up.

It's nothing a good walk outside can't fix — if only it was warm enough to take a walk. Soon. Soon.

“Warm enough” is a relative thing ... since bringing back my ski suit from our holiday trip to the Pacific Northwest, I've been warm enough (in it) to walk regularly, even shovel snow in some of the below-zero temperatures we in the upper midwest have been suffering through this season.

Not that I'm trying to chide you yet again ... ;-) Like you, I'm ready for spring to burst forth. The birds seem to be ready too.

Chide? I sincerely apologize; I didn't mean to make you feel that way. I was just trying to share some of the positive aspects of the month and be light hearted about it.

I have never lived where it's miserable cold in February. That might certainly change my mind about the month. I kind of like the cold though, as well---- sipping a warm cup of coffee while the snow is falling; wearing sweaters, gloves and scarves all the time, seeing my breath spiral into the air as I breathe out.

Maybe my PNW prejudice is creeping through--- I'm not a huge fan of March. It's usually sloppy wet, vacillating between too cold and too muggy. I want March to just make up her mind, but she's flighty. Her saving grace-- tulips and daffodils start popping up everywhere during her tenure.

Maybe "chide" was the wrong word; I took it as encouragement, not a rebuke. It's clear our perceptions of February and March are based on location, location, location, and nothing inherently good or bad about the months themselves!
