Starting to feel a draft
If you thought for a nanosecond that restoring a Democratic majority in the U.S. Congress would have any positive impact on freedom or individual rights, think again.
WASHINGTON - Americans would have to sign up for a new military draft after turning 18 under a bill the incoming chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee says he will introduce next year.
Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., said Sunday he sees his idea as a way to deter politicians from launching wars.Whatever Rangel's motivation, his proposal illustrates once again that these people think they own us - mind, heart, body and soul.
The prayer was for gridlock between two sides that labor under the illusion that they're opposing forces. The reality might be a race between two totalitarian forces to see who can steal the most liberties from us.

Kind of ironic, isn't it—a black man advocating slavery?
Ah, Sunni, but in Rangel's worldview, what's most important is that we're all slaves EQUALLY.
The real irony is that I think of Rangel as a moron, a statist, a knee-jerk socialist, a guy with a really irritating New Yawk accent, an enemy of freedom, and now of course an advocate of slavery - but I'd forgotten that he's black. Now that we've become a color-blind society, slavery is back in fashion.
Good point, Wally. But since some of us are more equal than others, Rangel's children and grandchildren can carry my kids' shares.
