23 years overdue, but accurate

Within 200 yards of the home where George Orwell wrote Nineteen Eighty-four are 32 surveillance cameras.
"According to the latest studies, Britain has a staggering 4.2million CCTV cameras - one for every 14 people in the country - and 20 per cent of cameras globally. It has been calculated that each person is caught on camera an average of 300 times daily."

Wait... did you get my good side?

300 times daily?! Geez Louise! That gives new meaning to, "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. Deville."

Maybe the Brits need to take advantage of all those screen shots to gross out the watchers-- pick their noses with joy, chew with their mouthes open, use naughty hand gestures. Oh... wait a minute. Doesn't Britain also use speakers to loudly instruct people who are acting in a manner the watchers deem rude?

Sheesh.
